Many users were completely shocked when Netflix announced that they want to do something, that may be slightly impossible, but with Netflix, anything can happen.
Netflix has expressed interest in wanting to stream Star Wars: The Force Awakens, sooner than later. Sooner as in 2016. Can you imagine the newest Star Wars film streaming only a couple months after the theater premiere? That would be spectacular, but we are think this will not come as easy as Netflix plans.
Netflix has been grasping at any chance to get streaming right for the film, but of course Disney has to approve this decision too. Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos, has not yet come to any agreement with Disney, but fingers are crossed that some strings can be pulled.
“It’s up to Disney,” Sarandos claimed.
In 2012 Netflix struck a deal with Disney that allowed them streaming right to all Disney films released between 2016 through 2018. Does this include streaming Star Wars? The new Star Wars film will technically be released in 2015. Only time will tell.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released on December 18, 2015. Hopefully, we will see the film available to stream shortly after. Fingers crossed!
